Dan joined Companion Animal Hospital in the summer of 2014. He was born in Georgia, but spent most of his childhood outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Chester County. He earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee and his veterinary degree from North Carolina State University.
Dr. Houlihan has particular interests in ophthalmology and client communication. He loves talking and interacting with clients, so feel free to stop by and say hello. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and fishing off the coast of North Carolina. He also enjoys hiking, biking, coin collecting, watching college football (Go Vols!), and exploring places to eat in Athens. Dr. Houlihan currently lives in Athens with his partner and two spoiled cats, Hops and Barley.
Dr. Brooke is originally from Tucker, Georgia. He has always been an animal lover and began pursuing a career as a veterinarian working for a veterinary clinic the year he started high school. He graduated from the University of Georgia for both undergraduate studies and veterinary school. His biggest passions in life are animal well-being, science, fitness and getting to know people. In his free time he is an avid boxing competitor, home-brewer, outdoorsman, and singer-songwriter.
Born in Devizes, England Has 3 Children, 3 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren Has 1 dog named Rocky and 5 cats Has worked at Companion since 2002 One of her biggest passions in life is working with animals and being rewarded with a big lick in the face for a job well done
Ginger is originally from Madison County. She graduated from Athens Technical College with an associates degree as a licensed Veterinary Technician. Ginger has been working for Companion for 8 years. She is married to her husband Hansel, and has one son, Dillion, who is attending college at East Georgia State. Ginger has a passion for rescuing animals in need of loving homes. She also has a menagerie animals at home!
Hometown is Ft. Lauderdale, FL, but she has lived in Athens, GA over 20 years now Married with 3 children (Bonnie, Masion, and Spencer) Has 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 turtles Has worked in the veterinary field since 1995, has many years of valuable experience Has worked at Companion since 2004
Carolyn is apart of our awesome weekend staff. She comes to hang out with us 2 Saturdays a month. She has been with us for about 11 years now. Carolyn and her family moved to Athens in 2006 from Midway Georgia. She is happily married to Bruce, has 1 daughter, and two grandsons who she absolutely adores. She has 1 sassy cat named Smokey. Carolyn is always traveling to fun and interesting places. Go Dawgs!
Rose is a born and raised Athens girl. She has worked with Companion for 4 years now. She used to be a vet assistant but is now strictly a receptionist. She is married and has 1 beautiful daughter named Madisyn. Rose is a pitbull lover. She has 2 rescues: Dozer and Queen. As a family they love to take trips to the beach! Rose is as sweet as a peach and we love having her here with us.
Originally Michigan, now lives in Hull, GA Has a boyfriend, Matt Together Samm and Matt have 4 dogs (Carlisle, Leigha, Landon, Aspynn) and 2 cats (Miss Kitty, Enzo) She is currently in school at UNG, pursuing a degree to be a High School English Teacher Has worked at Companion since 2014
Sam is apart of our Vet. Student crew. She comes back to work for us during all school breaks. She is heading into her 3rd year of vet school and will be working in the field of food animal. Sam is a born and raised Athens girl. She has been working at Companion for about 6 years. Sam has a black lab puppy named Bo. She also has a family dog named Scout and a horse named Chica! Sam is the kind of girl that can always put a smile on your face!
Chris is a born and raised Athens Boy. He has five cats and two dogs at his family home. Chris is an aspiring artist, enjoying everything from drawing to singing to painting. Chis has had the pleasure of traveling 1000 miles through the northern and southern Appalachian Trail with hopes to complete it all someday. Chris recently became a proud daddy to a beautiful lab/golden mix puppy named Aurum. He is a very sweet guy that always has a smile on his face.
Born and Raised in Athens, GA He is a 2nd degree black belt Was involved in 4-H and FFA, while in high school he showed Dairy Heifers Currently attends UGA, plans to go to Vet School Has 1 dog named Cheena, (Jacob rescued Cheena from Mexico) Has worked at Companion since 2015
Jenna is another Northern girl transferred to Georgia. She moved here a year ago from Portsmouth Ohio with her boyfriend Tim and their 2 rescue pups Zoey & Atticus! Jenna enjoys going on hikes with her puppies and will curl up with a good book any chance she gets. Jenna loves being a vet assistant and plans to one day further her career and become a certified veterinary technician. Jenna is always keeping us laughing and keeps us on our toes here at Companion and we love her for it!
Hometown is Bowman, GA, now lives in Athens, GA Attended college at ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College), studied Animal Science She is an RN, working as an ER nurse at CHOA She continues to work at Companion on days she is available Has a cat named Henry Her family has multiple sheep, pigs, and goats Highly involved with livestock shows, 4-H, and FFA Worked at Companion since 2015
Abby is new to Companion and the Athens area. She is from Peachtree City, GA. She moved to Athens to attend the University of Georgia. She is working toward a double major in Animal Science & Bio Science. She wants to attend vet school eventually and become a Vet When she grows up! Abby has a rescue doggie named Daizey! Abby is excited to be here with us and cannot wait to see what her journey here in Athens brings!
